The Lamp Post and the Water Tap (XIX)

Well ... it's week 17 and still Lancashire County Council have not connected the street lamp. And guess what? There's a distinct dip in the newly tarred pavement next to the lamp post. I'm thinking the sand has moved and settled underneath or ... there's another leak that is moving the sand. My breath has a hint of bait.

Football on the Telly

Since 26 July 2006 (pre-season but euro pre-qualifiers, etc) I have kept a log/spreadsheet of all the live football matches I have watched on my TV. I have broken them down into scores and whether originating from terrestrial or Sky. Well ... you know what it's like ... you're sat there with the laptop and a blank spreadsheet in front of you having just finished your finance calculations for the month and the footy comes on, and you wonder how much you watch in a season.

A full breakdown will follow at the end of the season but the figures represent my viewing to date (and I have balanced any comfort breaks and snoozes against the other bits of matches I've spied prior to leaving the house or while switching channels). I'm reasonably selective in my football viewing and there are lots of live games I don't watch.

Anyway here's a brief breakdown as at 07 December 2006 ...

Total games watched - 48
Total goals scored - 118
Goal per game - 2.46
Hours watched - 72.5

What shocked me was that I have spent just over three days of my life in the past four months or so watching live football on the telly!

Singers I can't stand and have to switch the radio off or change stations/channels

Lily Allen - because of her way of singing. It's guttural and slovenly. It's not smart and it's not clever. The tunes are half decent but not the vocals.

Fratellis - same as Lily Allen ... guttural and slovenly, etc.

Morrisey - boring, depressing, fills out unfinished lines of lyric with poor attempts at la-la-ing along with the tune(s).

Beautiful South - too twee.

Ah ... feel better for that. Rant over.

The Lamp Post and the Water Tap (XVIII)

By week 13 no light from the lamp post. What a surprise ... not!

Do the utility companies/county councils not keep track? Keep records of jobs half done?

Just turn up and connect the bloody light bulb!
